I can't tell you how excited I am to tell you that I am becoming a yoga teacher. EEEEH! I am so excited to deepen my practise and learn more about something that means so much to me and helps keep me mentally stable and later share my learnings with others. For me yoga is a safe space and and a place of love, compassion and self development and to be able to learn more about the practise which means so much to me will be INCREDIBLE!! Now is probably a great time to throw in a little disclaimer that in this place there will be a lot of capital letter, exclamation marks and just general ridiculous hysteria so if that's not for you there I have many other blog posts with a normal level of excitement that you might prefer. But if you have chosen to read on, thank you friend and enjoy the madness.

Firstly, let's focus on the practical bits. I am doing a 200 hour online yoga teacher training that started yesterday (3rd September 2021). The course can either be self-paced and completed in 4 months or done intensively as a 28 day programme.. I am doing the course with Rishikesh Nath Yogshala, you can book for the next one here if you so wish! I chose Rishikesh Nath Yogshala as number one they are a very popular yoga school in India, they are such an affordable option compared to most other yoga teacher training courses out there and the training covered all of the styles of yoga that interest me. So pretty much everything is perfect and it's marvellous! As I said before the course is 200 hours so it is a huge commitment of time and energy but yoga is something I am so passionate about and love so so deeply that I am very willing to commit. For context, 200 hours in 4 months works out to pretty much 6 hours a week of study. A large proportion of this will actually be practising yoga and meditation, which I do a lot of anyways so am so excited to take my practise deeper! I also have A LOT to learn about yoga philosophy and anatomy so will be watching all the lectures and studying that as well. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to learn some more about the practise that has changed my life for the better and am so looking forward to being able to share the transformational benefits of yoga with other people!
why I have decided to become a yoga teacher....
When I was really struggling with my mental health last year I was lucky enough to discover yoga and for me it has been utterly life changing. My mat feels like a safe space, a space where I can be and flow and breathe. During yoga I can be messy, imperfect, I can laugh and cry, I can challenge myself but also take time to restore. Every day I can take myself to the mat feel what there is to feel and look after myself accordingly. Over the last few months I have also come to realise that yoga is so much more than what happens on the mat. It is your ability to stay present throughout the day, how you deal with challenging situations and how you treat other people. In my yoga practise I can shake off the day and develop the confidence to face problems when they arise. Since I started practising yoga my self confidence has grown enormously and I have learnt how to find comfort in discomfort, push myself out of my comfort zone and test my boundaries. If you can't tell I am absolutely in love with yoga and am so so grateful for every single teacher who came before me who allow me and so many other people to enjoy this beautiful practise. Training to be a yoga teacher will allow me to explore the depths of yoga even more and share something which I love so much with others!
This is one of my Instagram posts that I think sums up my relationship with yoga perfectly. If you don't follow me on Instagram yet and you'd like to see more posts like this I'd love for you to follow me, which you can do here.
During my yoga teacher training journey I will make sure to share loads of things that I've found interesting, my experience and some of most important parts of yoga philosophy. I have already done a little bit of research on yogic philosophy in preparation for the training and I am well aware that there is SO SO much to learn. If you are also interested in learning more I have been reading articles here and I have learned so many fascinating things, so I couldn't recommend reading that any more!
After I complete my training I will be a certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (AAAH!!!) which means I am qualified to teach classes! I am so looking forward to sharing yoga classes with all of you so make sure you have your yoga mats ready and get excited for January and beyond!
